Boris Lukic

Boris Lukic (born 1985 Sarajevo, BiH) received his MA from the Academy of Arts, NS. In over a decade long career he has worked in all media, from painting and sculpture to drawing and mixed media. He's favorite medium is oil on linen, but he often makes sculptures and drawings that are sometimes related to his paintings, always repeating and simplifying his forms to their essence. He's inspired by masters such as Velasquez or Courbet as well as pop and counter culture. Although his subjects are traditional - nudes, figures in landscapes, portraits - his revolutionary use of contrasting colors and exaggerated form to express emotion, makes him one of the most influential artists nowadays. He mostly deals with the visual representations of humans in the contemporary world. His blending of time-tested traditions and modern mass images creates powerful visions of classic appearance and controversial content. He continues to emphasize the emotional power of sinuous lines, strong brushwork and dark shades of colors in works such as Statera, a large composition of a female nude in a landscape. Like much of his work, this scene captured a mood while trying to depict the world realistically. Boris has exhibited his work in many solo and group exhibits through Europe and US - Novi Sad, Vienna, Zurich,  Geneva, Valencia, Belgrade, London, Rome, New York, Florence and more.
